Michael Schwengel

Creating new ideas and connecting with people have always been in Mike’s lifeblood.  At an early age, he put on shows for the neighborhood in a makeshift outdoor theatre, started “Popcorn Plus”, a garage-based snack shop with arguably the best popcorn in a 10 block radius, and helped a friend manage and market her rock museum.  At age 15, Mike founded The Forbidden Forest, an annual haunted trail which, with the help of his friends, donated thousands each year to local charities.

With an ever expanding interest in web technologies, Mike taught himself the fundamentals of Photoshop and HTML coding, and soon looked for ways to offer his new skills to the marketplace.  In 2000 he created Upward Design, and began providing graphic design and web development services to small businesses in Wisconsin’s Chippewa Valley.  He soon realized that his clients needed more robust solutions to solve their business objectives, and became a casual PHP and ASP.net programmer.  While working as an intern for Powertex Group, he honed his coding skills while planning and developing a web-based order management solution, replacing an outdated paper ordering process and giving real time information to all departments in the company.

In 2004, Mike attended the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management and immediately felt at home in the school’s Entrepreneurship Program.  He eventually graduated after first spending a few years pursuing acting and modeling opportunities in New York, Miami, and Los Angeles.

Today, he is the co-founder of BestHive and has the utmost gratitude for the team and clients whom he works with.  Outside of business hours, Mike enjoys returning to nature, watching SNL reruns, and yoga.

Artem Kuznetsov

If the last name didn’t already give it away, Artem Kuznetsov was born in the Eastern European country of Belarus. After moving to the US in 1993 and without a word of English, Artem quickly immersed his mind in everything and anything creative. His inability to sit still and urge to create made him a natural people magnet. In 2002, he joined Pre-paid Legal, where he gained sales and leadership experience by building a sales organization of 500+ people. It was around this time that he had an opportunity to meet Anthony Robbins.

Artem was so inspired that any amount of failure only motivated him more. In fact, he lives by Napoleon Hill’s quote, “every adversity, every failure, every heartache carries with it the seed of an equal or greater benefit.” In 2002, he co-founded Artway Media, a publishing company that published two unique pocket-sized magazines with monthly distribution of 25K+. In 2004, he co-founded Ad3pt, a creative agency that delivered solutions via print, design and web development.  In 2008, Artem and his business partner launched Sip n’ Sample, a marketing program that brought foodies and up-and-coming independently owned restaurants together.

Today he is a proud father of a sexy doberman/tervuren shepherd named Invoice.  His life philosophy is inspired by many notable people such as Tim Ferriss, Tom Shadyac and Eckhart Tolle.  When he’s not overseeing the hive, Artem is a proud addict of p90x, a recovering coffee-holic, and spends time enjoying the simple things in life.
